The OTTO Work Force team is going to take part in the New York City Marathon. Frank van Gool, CEO, Tomasz Dudek, Operational Director CEE and the well-known runner Diana Golek are a part of the OTTO team. Facilitating the participation and the trip of its team, OTTO Work Force shows that it is important to bond the best employees with your company and, also, to keep them healthy.
The team which is going to line up at the start in New York on November 5 this year, is made up of twenty seven runners, coming from different European countries in which OTTO operates. Among them are adept athletes, but also sport enthusiasts who are getting ready for their first marathon. Frank van Gool, OTTO Work Force CEO and Tomasz Dudek, Operational Director CEE, form part of this group. It will be the first marathon for both of them. Also Diana Golek is a part of the team. She is a well-known figure in the runners’ world and intends to break her personal record of 03:01 during the New York City Marathon.
The collective participation in the marathon of New York serves more purposes than just boosting the team spirit and health promotion of the runners. “This way OTTO Work Force demonstrates that we attach great importance to the satisfaction of our people” explains the CEO, Frank van Gool. “In the times of a tightening labour market you, as company, must make an extra effort to take good care of your employees. The New York City Marathon is on the people’s bucket list. It is also thanks to this chance that they can finally check it off. We have been supporting other sport events for years, giving the opportunity to take part in them to our people.”
Annemieke van Gennep, one of the participants, says: “In the end of April we got, all of a sudden, an invitation from our CEO, Frank van Gool. Who is going to run the New York City Marathon with me? The world around me stopped for a moment, my heart jumped; one of the dreams from my bucket list is to run a marathon and then right the most beautiful one – marathon in New York. The ultimate combination! Preparing for the marathon involves running many kilometres and you also need to sacrifice a bit of your social life. But now I am ready for it. To finish the marathon on November 5 together with my colleagues – this is my goal.”
The marathon in New York is held each year on the first Sunday of November. With more than 50,000 finishers from over 130 countries and two million spectators, it is one of the world’s biggest marathons. The start is on Staten Island. Next, the course runs via the Verrazano Narrows Bridge, Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan and First Avenue. Finally, the runners go through the Bronx, along Fifth Avenue to the Central Park, where the course ends and the participants reach the finish line.
